Rockdale Police Department received a call of “shots fired” on Friday, May 24 from Shady Grove RV Park at 987 West US 79. Officers responded to the area where they began receiving rifle fire from an RV towards the highway.
Officers took defensive positions behind their patrol vehicles and stopped all traffic on US 79 to protect bystanders as the suspect continued to fire his rifle at them.
Members of the Milam County Sheriff’s Office, Texas parks and Wildlife, Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Travis County Sheriff’s Office and Austin Police Department SWAT teams responded to the scene to assist.
Williamson and Milam County Sheriff’s personnel approached the suspect’s residence with an armored vehicle resulting in the suspect surrendering.
The suspect is identified as Quincy Arnett, 44, Rockdale. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant, possession of a controlled substance (4 grams to 400 grams), deadly conduct and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He is currently in Milam County Jail on a $550,000 bond.
