Elissa Benford with Friends of Veterans Park is seeking donations to raise money for monuments honoring the five branches of the military — Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy.
“Even though the park is called Veterans Park, there is nothing there to honor our veterans. These beautiful granite monuments will be three feet tall and 14” x 15” in depth, and purchased locally in Rockdale. I think the monuments will be an educational opportunity for our youth,” said Benson.
Checks from both organizations and individuals can be made out to City of Rockdale for any amount. Be sure to note Friends of Veterans Park in the memo.
