Special thanks to everyone in the community who took part in the annual community Christmas program. We don’t get to see each other very often and this is a time when the community comes together. It’s great!

The children and youth did a great job as well as the choir.

It would be great to have more community activities during the year but it seems we (maybe I should say working people—those with jobs) have a busy life, and we retired ones are looking for something to keep us active.

It is a dreary, cloudy Monday at I’m sitting here but maybe it will clear before the day is over. But it is the time of year for all of the above.

Half a month left in this year. Are you making plans to ring in the new year?

On Saturday, Dec. 11, the D.S. Smith family celebrated their “Christmas Fun Day” at the home of the late Mrs. Dorsie Wilson. They had not had a get-together since 2019, so they were really excited to have this one.

Ages attending were 3 to 99. Two of them were 99 years young (only one week apart in age)—Aunt Alma and mother-in-law Mom Holloway. Both of them are still sharp and are mentally and physically doing great. Aunt Alma even went to another church engagement before joining the celebration. She has never missed one of the Christmas Fun Days.

It was cold and windy but where there is family, there is warmth, peace and love. There was plenty of Mexican food (fajitas, nacho and taco bars) to eat and everyone enjoyed themselves from the areas of Houston, Dallas, Bryan, Hearne and Gause.
