Pierce Ward celebrated his sixth birthday at the home of his great-grandparents, Wanda and Al Coats, Sunday with a lunch and party that afternoon.

Those in attendance were his mother and grandmother from Houston and family members from the Bryan area. Fun was had by all. His uncle, Bryce Rasco, baked and decorated a Superman cake for him. Approximately 30 people attended.

Delores and Johnny Fisher, along with Alma Gray and Vette Ferguson Burton, traveled to Dallas to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of Delores’ brother and sister-in-law, Ferias and Nobie Ferguson, on Saturday, June 9. They report it was a beautiful affair. Everyone wore white with gold accessories. “Too much good food” to report what all they had to eat.

Music was provided by their grandsons, Garlan and Garrett Smith, and this was hosted by their children, Gayle Ferguson Smith and Ferias Smith Jr. Attending from the Houston area was his sister, LaVerne Ratcliff, and other family members. Approximately 100 people attended.

Stephen Chapel AME church hosted the fourth quarterly conference of the year with Allen AME of Rockdale on June 10. Rev Linda Wallace is pastor. Rev. Willie Phillips of AME Church presided. Dr. George Johnson Jr. gave the sermon titled “Faith is Pressure” from Acts 7.
