Happy New Year! Did you make any New Year resolutions? Not me! Don’t most people break them anyway?

Gause ISD students, and probably all other schools, resumed classes this week. Gonna be summer vacation before we know it. And it will be time for me to be complaining about the heat instead of the cold.

Gause students have an early release on May 21, the last day of school and the teachers have a work day.

I’m so tired of the foreign-sounding callers offering me free health care benefits. Maybe they are U.S. citizens, but it always sounds like the same guy.

Wanda and Al Coats, Kane, Lindsay, Lori and Kevin have been vacationing in Steam Boat, Colorado. I’m guessing they are having a wonderful time.

I have a simple recipe for Sausage Dip on one of my 2021 calendars. It sounds so good that I’m going to give it to you:

Sausage Dip

1 (16-oz.) package sausage

1/2 large block cream cheese

1 (16-oz.) jar salsa (any kind)

Cook sausage and drain fat. Place in a crock pot. Add cream cheese and salsa. Heat on high setting until hot and all is melted, then set to keep warm.

Serve with tortilla or corn chips.

February’s recipe is “Darn Good Chocolate Cake.” I’ve made it for years. We call it “Sock-itt0-Me Cake”!
