At Monday night’s short Rockdale Municipal Development District (RMDD) board meeting Director of Economic Development Jim Gibson gave the board members updates on several different projects.
The Cornerstone Development subdivision project is moving along and groundbreaking should begin in June. If everything goes well, that could be moved up to May. This is the new 660-home subdivision going up on FM 487.
FoundTX, who the board hired to complete a branding study for Rockdale, announced that they will soon show some designs for some of the logos they have come up with for both the City of Rockdale and the RMDD.
The RMDD’s sales tax report came in at 30 percent above last year’s total. However, this includes a large one-time payment to the RMDD in October. If that figure is taken out of the equation, they are still up 5 percent over last year.
There are plans for an industrial property near the intersection of US 77 and US 79 but the board is not far enough along with their planning to give out any information at this time.
