Girl Scout Troop 12345 and the Rockdale Rotary Club worked hard at Skate Park on Saturday painting over all of the graffiti and making the park look nice and clean.

In total, 12 gallons of paint, donated by the City of Rockdale Public Works Department and Rotarian Nathan Bland, were used by the volunteers to give the park a fresh new look. The painting took six hours and was accomplished by 21 people.

On Friday, Girl Scout Troop Leader Paula Waak was going to wash the surfaces of the park in preparation, but unfortunately the water spigot was vandalized and broken. So, instead, she used a big broom to sweep up all the grass, chewing gum and dirt from the surfaces and then used an electric blower. Volunteer Scott Oertli brought Graffiti Goof Off Remover and used it in some areas of the park.

One of the Girl Scouts brought her little brother and her mother, and they picked up all the trash in the park.

A fantastic volunteer job ended up with a clean and fresh-looking park for Rockdale. Please take a drive by the park at the corner of South Wilcox and Mill Street to see the work of these fine volunteers.
