Rachel Owens, GS spokesperson, said within the next few months a meeting location may not be available and the organization is open to suggestions and ideas
Girl Scouting is going ahead with plans for 2018-19 year and “meet and greet” meetings for new, current and potential members are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the following dates and locations:
• Monday, Gause VFD Fire Station.
• Tuesday, Rockdale VFD Fire Station.
• Wednesday, Sept. 19, Milano Community Center.
• Thursday, Sept. 20, Cameron CFD Fire Station.
QUEST—“We need to find locations for all these troops to meet,” Owens said. “The Milano troop is a new one.”
“Individuals, businesses and organizations are asked to please reach out to us if you know of a property for Milam Girl Scouts to acquire,” she said.
Property donations could be a tax write-off, a quick sale or for temporary use while the Scouts search for a permanent location.

When the Rockdale headquarters was built in the mid to late 1950s, it was called a Girl Scout house. Today’s nomenclature refers to them as “Girl Scout Huts.”
By whatever name they are safe, clean and accommodating and secure places to house supplies for all the troops in an area and provide a convenient place for members and leaders to gather for meetings and special events.
