The fourth annual G0ld-Out in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is going to be different from this first three.

It’s on a Thursday, not a Friday.

It’s on the road, not in Rockdale.

Both those changes are tied up with the construction of the new Tiger Field, currently “weathering” a spell of rain.

It was originally hoped the field would be ready for what was scheduled to be the first home game, Big Blue hosting the Lexington Eagles.

That’s not going to happen. So the game was moved from Rockdale to neutral site Taylor and scheduled for Thursday. Kickoff time is 7:30 p.m.

AWARENESS—September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The first Gold Out was held in 2015 after Gunner Miller, son of Tiger Head Football Coach Jeff Miller and his wife, Angel, began undergoing treatments for cancer.

It was held in honor of all victims of childhood cancer in the Rockdale area and in memory of those whom the disease has claimed.

Twenty-eight school districts, ranging from Wichita Falls to Van Vleck, participated that first year.

In the past three years, from T-shirt sales alone, Gold Outs have raised almost $78,000.

Shirts are priced at $10 each and may be obtained from Denise Betchan at the Athletic Office (south end of Tiger Field parking lot). Students may buy shirts from the following: Kelly Windham, RHS; Eric Willard, junior-high; Kelly Pickel, intermediate; Ashley Willard, elementary.
