Golden Apple winner

Gimel Peterman (L) was named Rockdale High School Teacher of the Year on May 19 during the annual Senior Day awards program in the high school gym. Shown with Peterman is RHS principal Brent Hasselbach who presented the Golden Apple to the honoree. Peterman went to Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, FL, and has worked in education for eight years. At RHS he teaches graphic design and illustration. “Students often sell themselves short. My favorite thing about teaching is when a student ‘gets’ it. When they take off into an understanding you introduced, but they own.
