On Aug. 10-12, the Texas Federation of Music Clubs (TFMC) held its 107th Annual Convention at the MCM Elegante Hotel and Suites in Dallas.

TFMC has nine music districts throughout the state. Rockdale’s Matinee Musical Club (MMC) member, Annette Griesbach, represented District IV. District IV was also represented by members from Waco Euterpean Music Club (WEMC) and Navasota Music Study Club (NMSC).

This year’s convention allowed for both in-person and virtual attendance thanks to modern technology. State President Connie Randall of Fort Worth presided over the business of the convention. Current NFMC President Deborah Freeman of South Carolina was the special guest and keynote speaker who also installed the newly elected 2023-2025 State Officers. Annette Griesbach was installed as TFMC Vice President of Member Extension.

Opportunities for musical moments scatted the business portion of the meeting as we heard from Junior Club monetary piano and vocal winners, performances by this past season’s Opera in the Ozarks vocalists, a recital by the recipient of the Young Artist Award winner Shaina Martinez, and a variety of music provided by some of the seasoned club members from the various Districts.

The conference always provides time for business, exchange of ideas, fine music and re-acquainting with music friends from across the state.
