Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cameron’s 76520 zip code has contained the majority of cases for the potentially deadly disease.
As of Tuesday that total has reached 50 percent.
The latest in a series of pie charts was released Tuesday by the Milam County Health Department. It shows virtually the same spread among Milam County areas as was reflected in the most recent accounting Sept. 16.
Milam County’s two largest population areas have accounted for roughly threefourths of the COVID-19 cases since the first “zip-byzip” chart was released on June 23.
• Cameron’s 76520 hit the 50-percent plateau, but that’s almost identical to the 49 percent portrayed two weeks ago.
• Rockdale’s 76567 decreased by one percent, from 49 to 48 percent.
• Thorndale’s 76577 was down from 9 to 6 percent.
• In the Milano area, the 76556 zip code stayed at six percent.
• Buckholts’ 76518 remained at 5 percent.
• The Gause 77857 zip code remained constant at 3 percent.
On both charts other zip codes accounted for 2 percent of Milam cases.
AGE GROUPS—As in past months the health department released a graph showing cases by age distribution.
Again the two highest age groups showing the most cases were 30-39 and 40-49 with both reaching, or topping, the 80-case mark.
Surprisingly the 20-29 group was next, followed by 50-59 ad 60-69.
Fewest cases have been reported for those 19 and younger and 70 and older.
