The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and The Milam County Historical Commission hosted an official historical marker dedication ceremony for the Coffield House on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Presentation of Colors was provided by the American Legion Post 358 and Larry Rubino and Donna Diver with VFW Post 6525 led the Pledge of Allegiance and the Pledge to the Texas Flag.

Master of Ceremonies was Curah Beard. The Communities in Concert Band and Lynn Martin sang The National Anthem.

Beard gave the history of the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, followed by Milam County First Lady and past chairperson of the Historical Commission Lynn Young who gave the keynote history of the Coffield House.

Rockdale Mayor John King made a proclamation that Nov. 7 be Coffield House Historic Marker Dedication Day and past chairperson of the Historical Commission Geri Burnett read the wording of the marker.

Rockdale’s favorite historian, Dr. Lucile Estell, who submitted the research and application to the state, unveiled the historical marker which had been covered with a cloth during the ceremony.
