A 65-year-old Rockdale man was sent to the hospital after he was hit by a vehicle in front of a restaurant on US 79 Wednesday night around 8:15. Darryl Reed was released from Ascension Seton in Round Rock on Friday.
Police also responded Friday afternoon to the parking lot of a restaurant on US 79 after a report of one vehicle hitting two parked ones.
A two-vehicle wreck was reported around 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The wreck happened on Ackerman just off east Cameron Avenue. when one vehicle rear ended the other.
Police handed out 13 speeding tickets during the week and responded to 276 calls for help with 99 of those being 911 calls.
FIRE CALLS—Wednesday, 8:14 p.m., Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call for an auto-pedestrial accident on US 79.
• Thursday, 10:21 p.m., Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department responded to a tree fire at CR 320 and CR 324.
• Friday, 2:13 p.m., Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call about a grass fire in front of a business, but there was no fire.
• Saturday, 9:28.m., Milano Volunteer Fire Department and Gause VFD, along with the Milam County Sheriff’s Office and AMR, responded to CR 342 for a structure and brush fire.
• Saturday, 12:50 p.m., Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department, the Milam County Sheriff’s Office, AMR and AirMed responded to the 1400 block of CR 326 for a motorcycle accident.
• Sunday, 2:16 p.m., Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 600 block of North Avenue to check a carbon monoxide level.
• Sunday, 5:52 p.m., Thorndale Volunteer Fire Department responded to a grass fire but the call was canceled at arrival.
