Fuel tanks at the former Tetco convenience store, which closed at the corner of West Cameron and Wilcox (US 79 and FM 487) earlier this summer, were removed Thursday but it’s coming back bigger and better than ever. Brad Caffey, spokesman for the Caffey Family, owners, told The Reporter his parents Dana Caffey and the late Lee Roy Caffey, built and opened the store in the summer of 1988. First named Farmco, it later became Tetco and finally a 7-11. “Most people did not know it was actually a 7-11 because they never branded the store,” he said. “They did not want to be in small towns so they didn’t renew their lease.” Caffey said the family is in talks with another tenant but may operate the store themselves. “The tanks were removed because they are 30 years old and out of warranty,” he said.
