Probation revoked for ‘endangering’
Body

There was yet another posthumous chapter in the short, tragic life of the late Patricia Ann “Annie” Rad-er last week when her mother—24-year-old Brianna Kayci Matthews of Rockdalereceived a nine-month state jail term.

Matthews was sentenced after her probation was revoked on an original conviction of endangering a child.

Matthews pleaded “true” in 20th District Court to probation violation allegations, according to Prosecutor Bill Torrey.

CHARGES—Rader, age 20 months, died in Rockdale Dec. 3, 2018, in a San Gabriel Street home.

The child was born—prematurely at 36 months, according to court documents—on March 30, 2017.

According to those documents Matthews called 911 to say she had just had a baby at home.

Records state when an officer arrived on the scene Matthews was holding the baby on one arm and its umbilical cord was attached.

CPS records indicated both Matthews and her husband used meth during the pregnancy.

That led to the “endangering” charge being filed against Matthews.

MURDER—Shawn Vincent Boniello, also known as Shayla Angeline Boniello, is charged with Rader’s death.

Police said Boniello was in a relationship with the child’s grandfather, who was Rader’s custodial guardian and the owner of the residence.

Torrey is seeking the death penalty for Boniello.

According to an arrest affidavit by Rockdale Police, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said Boniello confessed “out of anger and frustration” to squeezing the child for about three minutes “until feeling bones begin to crack and pop.”

The victim’s uncle found the child “unresponsive” and notified police.

Emergency workers attempted to render aid but Rader was pronounced dead at the scene.
