County officials elected in the Nov. 8, 2022, general election took office Sunday during the traditional New Year’s Day swearing-in ceremony at the county courthouse in Cameron.

A crowd of supporters, family and friends filled the district courtroom for the 9 a.m. event.

Dist r ic t Judge John Youngblood acted as the official before new Milam County Judge Bill Whitmire was sworn in.

Youngblood first swore in County Clerk Jodi Morgan (bottom left photo), and she then swore in her team. Youngblood then swore in Milam County Sheriff Mike Clore (bottom right photo), before swearing in Judge Whitmire, who then swore in Precinct 2 Commissioner James Denman and Precinct 4 Commissioner Wesley Payne.

Others sworn in on Sunday were Greg Hoelscher, Justice of the Peace Pct. 1; Sam Berry, Justice of the Peace Pct. 2; Andy Isaacs, Justice of the Peace Pct. 3; Gary Northcott, Justice of the Peace Pct. 4; Karen Berry, District Clerk; Linda Acosta, Treasurer; Oscar Lopez, Constable Pct. 1; and Danica Lara, Auditor.
