Here are rules for the upcoming Milam County Junior Livestock show, set for March 25-28 in Cameron, according to County Agent Micah Holcombe:
BUNNIES
Market bunnies will be tattooed 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 24, (subject to change).
ENTRY NIGHTS
• Monday, Feb. 10—Rock-dale General Store Meeting Room.
• Tuesday, Feb. 11—Thorn-dale Ag Science Building.
• Monday, Feb. 24—Y.E.B., Cameron.
All entries must be received by secretary no later than Feb. 24. After that date, late entries will be accepted until March 26 for an additional $100 per entry.
BAKED GOODS RULES
New—Auction baked goods and baked goods showmanship will take place on Friday, March 27, this year. It will also be at Bea’s Kitchen in Cameron. Please note this change when entering and bringing items.
• May enter a total of three baked goods. Must specify cake, pie, and/or cookies.
• All entries must be made by exhibitor.
• Cakes–Decorations and garnishes are acceptable but must be edible;. pies—Must be a fruit or nut pie; cookies—Must have six cookies, any type.
• No refrigerated or cold items. Any items needing refrigeration will be disqualified. This includes, but not limited to meringue, ice box, cheesecakes. No cream cheese. If you have questions, please verify with the superintendent.
• Must provide two copies of the recipe. (Please do not include any personal information (name, club/organization).
• Overall grand and reserve champion baked goods will be chosen from 1st and 2nd place cake, pie, and cookies.
• Dish can be no larger than 9 x 13.
Check-in—You can drop off your item beginning at 7:15 a.m. at Bea’s Kitchen. Check-in is from 7:30-8:30 a.m.
Be sure to bring a recipe to stay with your baked item (no name on it). No cake or pie carriers/covers will be kept upon entry of your item. Only the dish your baked good item is on.
SHOWMANSHIP
• Registration for showmanship takes place at check-in of baked goods.
• No fee and everyone can participate.
• Bring an additional recipe (no name on it) to give to your judge.
• Pee Wee, junior, and senior showmanship begins at 8:45 a.m. Meet in front foyer of Bea’s Kitchen after checking in.
CLEANUP
All participants need to check the Cleanup Bulletin Board posted by the dining area wall to see what time they are scheduled to help with cleanup.
