When Sara Donohoo faced extensive foot surgery, and was told she would be wheelchair-bound and unable to put any weight on that foot for weeks, she knew she would need a handicap ramp at her home. Her front porch was three steps high, her back entrance four steps. The Methodist Men of St. John’s United Methodist Church built her a handicap ramp to ADA code in three work sessions. “I’m so grateful,” Donohoo said, “I couldn’t have made it without them.” John Shoemake, Methodist Men president, said this is one of many ramps the organization has built over the years. Methodist Men fund these and other service projects from proceeds from their annual Chili Supper. Next supper is scheduled for Feb. 20. (See details in Church News, this page.)
