LADY OF THE YEAR—The Alpha Tau Delta service sorority recognized Julia Cordona as their Lady of the Year for 2022. “Each year we recognize a lady from the community who epitomizes a servant’s heart and core values of giving back to the community,” said Brooksy Fisher, publicity chair. Cordona is in charge of the local Workforce Commission office here in Rockdale for Milam County where she serves those in need of employment and training needs in order to make a living to support themselves and their families. During the pandemic, she and her staff worked with over 2,000 affected individuals and helped to train and assist in locating funding, opportunities and new employment. They had to figure out new ways to work with everyone when businesses shut down.
