—Blade Bassler (L) with son Pierson had a lot of success on a recent trip to Port Mansfield. The younger Bassler caught the 30-inch crevalle jack on his first cast during what his grandfather Miller Bassler said was his first “big boy fishing trip.” Miller also said that Pierson’s dad and the captain, former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb, also get credit for helping land the fish. Blade and Kolb followed the fish for some time before wearing it out and making the catch. Blade released the fish after catching it. Pierson, a resident of Houston, is the grandson of Miller and Kathie Bassler of Rockdale. Blade is a 2002 graduate of Rockdale High School.
