It’s been many months coming, but excavation work has started on a new $6.5-million, 80-bed nursing home adjacent to Rockdale Intermediate School (background). The last ‘speed bump’ to be worked out in connection with the long anticipated facility, which is to begin with over 100 jobs, has been resolved. City Manager Chris Whittaker said bids were opened for a sewer lift station to serve the facility and the $368,979 low bid was under the city’s $375,000 cap.
