Two Rockdale woman died last Wednesday afternoon as the result of a tw0-vehicle accident on a rural road northwest of town.
According to the Department of Public Safety, 37-year-old Kymber Barton was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11:56 a.m. collision by Justice of the Peace Gary Northcott.
Elizabeth “Liz” Bartlett died at 1:03 a.m. Thursday at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, the DPS said.
State Trooper Broderick Sims said Barton was the driver of a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup while Bartlett was driving a 2017 Lincoln sport-utility vehicle.
The DPS said Barton was traveling northwest on FM 487, while Bartlett was heading southeast when the accident occurred about 3.9 miles northwest of Rockdale near the Murray Cemetery.
According to the DPS report, the vehicle driven by Bartlett crossed the center stripe and was in collision with the Barton pickup.
The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department used its jaws of life at the scene.
Bartlett and 30-yearold Holly Ross of Rockdale were flown to Baylor Scott & White by helicopter.
As of Monday, the condition of Ross had not been reported to the DPS.
It was the second fatal crash, and third and fourth highway deaths, in Milam County this year.
