Sunday was a special day as St. John’s United Methodist Church held its annual Lord’s Acre event, a major fund-raiser for the congregation that benefits the church and its activities. The event, held in the church’s Fellowship Hall, featured a huge homemade barbecue sale, with all the trimmings and an auction with auctioneer John Fisher (right).

Auction items included hand crafted items, gift baskets, holiday decorations, paintings. gift certificates, baked goods, jellies and jams, plants, Texas Longhorn and Texas A&M Aggie fan items and more. There was also a silent auction.

The events followed St. John’s 11 a.m. service. Lord’s Acre spokesperson Gaye Bland said the event raised just over $13,000 for the church, exceeding its goal of $9,000.
