Love and Learning Center of Milam County was awarded the Torch Award for Employer of the Year by Workforce Solutions of Central Texas at the Annual Workforce Awards luncheon in Killeen on Oct. 28. The Torch Award for Employer of the Year criteria include involvement with and use of Workforce System Services, reinvestment in Workforce System and outstanding benefi ts, stability, and wages.
Quoting their leadership, 'It is our mission to promote healthy growth in children in a safe environment. We will facilitate the learning of social, emotional and cognitive skills. Utilizing age-appropriate learning tools, we will create and motivate our children to face their fears, be respectful, serve others and ultimately become happy, upstanding citizens.'
Director Rebecca Rendon and her staff have worked to establish a consistent, quality program that includes becoming a 3-Star Certified Texas Rising Star provider. Love and Learning Center offers competitive wages and credit for verifiable experience in the childcare industry. Current benefits to employees include monetary supplements to staff every pay period, paid holidays and birthdays off, personal time off, Christmas bonuses, employee of the month programs and financial assistance for staff to obtain their Child Development Association (CDA) Certificate with a stipend upon completion.
Love and Learning Center has used its Child Care Relief Funds to reinvest in the quality of the childcare center by remodeling and updating the facility, replacing furniture and equipment in all classrooms and renovating their outdoor learning spaces.
