At Monday night's city council meeting Rebecca Luckey was appointed to the board of the Rockdale MDD, t a king the spot occupied by RISD Superintendent Dr. Denise Monzingo.
There is an unexpired term available for another board member, but the council decided to wait to fill that position because bot h boa rd pre s ident Nathan Bland and MDD Economic Director Jim Gibson were both out of town on Monday.
The council canceled an East Ward election because there was no contested race.
The city submitted a grant application to Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District for system upgrades to the Texas Street water treatment plant. The city asked for $350,111.
Rockdale Police Chief Jerry Meadors gave the counci l an update on upgrading security measures at the police station including cameras, intercom and secure access points. He said he had found a company that was very responsive and reasonably priced.
