POLICE REPORT

Rockdale police investigated two highway accidents with heavy damaged on successive days Friday and Saturday.

No serious injuries were reported to police but Friday afternoon “rush hour” was slowed after one of the mishaps, which involved three vehicles.

That occurred at 4:07 p.m. and was a chain reaction incident in front of Hydrochem in the eastbound lane of the 600 block of West Cameron Avenue (US 79).

Police listed drivers as Bilal Abdul-Shakir of Rock-dale in a 2014 Chevrolet four-door, Jaquelin Martinez of Cameron in a 2015 Ford F-150 pickup and Thomas Pelzel of Rockdale in a 2007 Ford F-150 pickup.

Major damages were reported by police.

Police said Abdul-Shakir was transported to Little River-Rockdale Hospital where he refused treatment.

The Rockdale VFD responded.

‘UNKNOWN’—Major damages were also reported in a 7:11 p.m. Saturday collision at the East Cameron (US 79)-Pear intersection.

Police said a 2002 Ford Expo, driven by Jesse Tenner of Rockdale, sustained major damages when it was in collision with a 1999 Honda.

According to police the Honda’s unknown driver left the scene in foot.

The Rockdale VFD was also called out to the Sunday accident and one lane of traffic was blocked.

ARREST—Police made one felony arrest during the past seven days.

Douglas Ray Curtis, 62, of Rockdale, was charged with credit card/debit card abuse. He remains in custody in lieu of $5,000 bond.

OFFENSES—Police investigated three vehicle break-ins, two burglaries of buildings during the week, along with one burglary of a habitation.

Other calls included an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a runaway and a forgery report.

Police served two warrants and investigated two reports of theft against the elderly and two for theft of services.

CITATIONS—Police issued 22 speeding tickets during the past week.

Other citations issued included three for driving while license invalid, two each for displaying expired paraphernalia and failure to maintain financial responsibility and one each for violation of open container law, passing an authorized emergency vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.

SERVICE CALLS— Officers responded to 144 calls for service during the past week and there were 106 calls received through the 911 emergency system.
