Eating meals together promotes quality time for child and adult interaction. Family dinner provides time to share activities from the day or discuss upcoming events.
And there is a food health connection. Eating together provides an opportunity to talk about and model good nutrition and health behaviors.
Passing down cultural and family identity. Family dinners provide an opportunity for sharing family stories, creating memories and passing down cultural and family identity.
For the Month of September, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Milam County will be promoting the importance of celebrating family mealtime by posting 30 Days of Family Meals on the FCH Facebook Page. These recipes will be tried, tested and true recipes that my family loves. Each recipe will also feature tips and ideas to help make dinnertime at your house something to remember. We will also feature some of these recipes in the newspaper for those who do not have Facebook.
