—This was the scene on Belton Avenue in front of Rockdale Elementary School just before 8 a.m. Monday, and in countless other places, as the 2018-19 school year got underway. Rockdale ISD begin the year with 1,464 students, compared to 1,507 the first day last year. Milano ISD was up with 467, compared to 438 last year. In Thorndale the first day was last Wednesday with 541 compared to 572 last year.
