At the Rockdale MDD meeting on Monday night, the board heard from Judge Steve Young on all of the economic development going on in Milam County,
A tax report was given by MDD Economic Development Director, Jim Gibson. “Our taxes are up 10.1% over last year which amounts to about $40,000,” Gibson said.
Also discussed was putting together an incentive policy review and creation. This would help with any business that has an interest in coming to Rockdale. The incentive policy could be changed quickly as needed to get good information to prospects as soon as possible, and can be tailored directly to each prospect. The board agreed and this item will move forward.
Most of the other items on the agenda had to do with the MDD office building. Some construction, plumbing, landscaping and air-conditioning issues need to be taken care of and the board gave the go-ahead on fixing these problems.
Gibson requested a Parks Master Plan be developed and the board moved ahead with this.
Lighting and cameras to keep the mural safe was also approved by the board.
