Auditions for Milam Community Theater’s Youth Series’ play “We’ll Be Right Back After This Murder” will be held at the First Methodist Fellowship Hall in Cameron. Auditions are scheduled for Monday, Feb. 20, and Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. for youth 11 to 18 years of age.
The play is produced by Tia Garrett and directed by Ariel Weaver.
The play centers around the murder of Hampton Bellamy. He’s deader than dead, considering he was shot, stabbed, poisoned, clubbed and run over by a truck. “I like things simple,” says police captain Bogie, but at this point, everyone in Bellamy’s household is now a suspect.
The play is sure to have the audience enthralled and guessing “who dunnit.” For further information please contact Ariel Weaver at 512797-5264 or by email at ms.arweaver@gmail.com.
Milam Community Theater also announces its first play of the 2023 Main Series season, “Crimes of the Heart” by American playwright Beth Henley. It is set in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, in the mid-20th century. The play won the 1981 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play. In 1986, the play was novelized and released as a book, written by Claudia Reilly. The play is produced by Brittany Tucker and directed by Mona Butala.
