At Monday night’s Rockdale Municipal Development District’s board meeting it was revealed that everything is in place to offer for sale the industrial property located on at 900 FM 486. A new survey has been done and the minimum asking price for the property will be $1.5 million. The bid is up on the city’s website and the closing date for bids is June 27 at 2 p.m.
The board announced that designers, engineers and planners have visited Rockdale for an East Cameron Avenue visioning project for the future.
The ongoing plumbing issues at the MDD building were again discussed and the decision was made to authorize the MDD director Jim Gibson to get bids for the project to completion.
Sales taxes were said to be up 10 percent over this time last year bringing more money to both the city and the MDD.
The fiscal year 2023 budget is balanced and board members were asked what they would like to add to the budget. Some things that were mentioned were a parks masterplan, website redesign and expanding the façade grant project.
The board approved a façade grant to Alan Gardenshire for the Christian Information Bookstore.
Longtime board member Ricky Coppedge has sold his house and moved to Taylor, so he tendered his resignation since he no longer lives in the MDD area.
