Place of Hope is getting a facelift (below), and at Monday night’s Rockdale MDD meeting the board approved their application for a façade grant. Their application was given to the MDD in August, but it was incomplete. That situation has now been resolved.
The board also voted to create a Tourism Advisory Board for Rockdale. There were several applicants who expressed interest in serving on the board and six were chosen. The board did not reveal all of the names but one of them will be Joyce Dalley, who is also on the MDD board of directors.
In the staff report, MDD Economic Director Jim Gibson said the joint meeting with the city council three weeks ago was productive and asked the board if they would like to meet more often. The board agreed that at least twice a year would be beneficial.
A new park survey will be kicked off in October to get Rockdale citizen’s opinions and wishes for all the parks in town.
