The Rockdale MDD board, meeting the first time since a judge shut it down last month, hired the Central Texas Council of Governments at a special meeting Monday night to be the interim manager for the Municipal Development District.

“We really need someone on an interim basis to manage our daily affairs,” said Michelle Larkin, the board’s president.

Judge Burt Carnes issued a restraining order Nov. 16 telling the City Council and City Council/Board of Directors to stop acting on behalf of the RMDD. A hearing on the suit filed by Kara Clore, the former MDD executive director, was held Nov. 30 and the restraining order has expired. The case has been removed from state civil court to a federal court with the hearing date not yet set.

The board named the Rockdale financial director as the district’s interim assistant treasurer and the Rockdale city secretary as the district’s interim assistant secretary,

The board discussed the suit filed by Clore in executive session, but adjourned with no comment once back in open session.
