The Rockdale Municipal Development District will meet in special session at 6 p.m. Friday in the MDD Building to hear a presentation on the cultivation, processing and distribution of industrialized hemp.
Kara Clore, MDD executive director, said presenter will be Jerry Walters II, CEO and co-founder of Oppidian Wellness Inc.
She said focus of the presentation will be a possible opportunity to bring jobs to Rockdale. “Oppidian Wellness has asked for the opportunity to present their methodology and answer any questions,” she said.
NOT POT—According to information provided by Oppidian, its mission is “to develop and distribute pharmaceutical formulated products derived from industrialized hemp.”
Information provided to the MDD points out that while hemp is often confused with marijuana, and is a strain of the cannabis plant, it is not marijuana.
“Hemp” is traditionally used to describe a non-intoxicating Cannabis that is harvested for industrial use of its derived products, and has been used as such for over 10,000 years,” according to website CBD Origin.
