The Rockdale Municipal Development District board approved two grants at Monday night’s meeting that the City of Rockdale wants for two projects in town. The MDD board agreed to pay the matching funds for both grants.
One of the grants is for infrastructure on upsizing the east side lift station for $50,000 which is a 10 percent grant match for the work.
The other grant is a $75,000 match for work on sidewalks downtown which will run for one block both north and south on Main and Ackerman from US 79. Depending on the budget, sidewalks on West Bell in the downtown area will also be redone by TxDOT. No date for sidewalk construction was given, but it will be after the current downtown TxDOT project is complete.
City Manager Barbara Holly announced at the meeting that $16 million of the over $20 million Texas Water Development Board loan the city applied for to begin the massive water pipe replacement project was approved and the city will now send out bids for the work to be done.
Two new projects called Project Bluebird and Project Global Brand were discussed in executive session at the conclusion of the meeting. No information on either project was given.
