At Monday night’s Rockdale Municipal Development District board meeting, a decision was made to sell the 166-acre property on FM 487 which was bought several years ago as a site for an industrial park. An updated appraisal will be done and they will get bids for the sale of the property.
There is a company who wants to put a large gas station at the intersection of US 77 and US 79. The MDD and the city are working with the company whose name was not given.
Economic Development Director Jim Gibson said he is going to speak to the new owners of the Alcoa property, SLR, to see if there is a way the MDD can work with them to market the property.
In the MDD staff report there were two plumbing issues reported in the MDD building on Main Street. One was resolved and the other will be resolved after the plumbing in the building is snaked by a plumber and a decision is made on how to proceed with the plumbing issues in the building.
