When classes begin Aug. 13 in the Rockdale ISD, Southwest Food Service Excellence will provide meals-to-go for students choosing virtual learning.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided as a drive-through service from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. at the junior-high.

“Look for signage directing you to the curbside pickup in the bus drop-off area,” Sheri Wheeler, spokesperson, said.

Although students are not required to be present for meal pickup, parents must be prepared to present one of the following:

• Official letter/email from school listing children enrolled.

• Attendance record from parent portal of school website.

• Student ID card number.

Wheeler said meals are available at no cost to enrolled students at the elementary and intermediate schools, which are qualified for the Community Eligibility Program.

“Students enrolled in secondary schools (junior-high and high school) will be charged based on income eligibility,” Wheeler said.

Students must fill out meal applications and return them to the Food Service Department of any campus in the Rockdale ISD. “Please use myschoolbucks.com to ensure your student has a balance in their account and to help with social distancing and contact,” Wheeler said.

Those picking up meals should not get out of their vehicles. Meals will be brought to them to observe Centers for Disease Control guidelines and social distancing rules and regulations.
