Matinee Musical Club held its March meeting at the First Presbyterian Church Rockdale with Joyce Ford as hostess. The Junior Club Showcase by the Keyboard Melody Makers performed for us before the business meeting.
Dixie Whitmore’s Keyboard Melody Makers performed their annual recital for the club. Unfortunately, their teacher and MMC member Dixie Whitmore was unable to attend. First, Amelia Schuch played “Swinging Sioux” by Gillock, a swinging and delightful piece. Next she played a classical piece, “A Little Joke” by Kabelevsky. Next up was Emma Schuch who first played “Darkness Falls” by Siffore, a lively minor key piece. Her classical piece was “Minuet in D Minor” by Bach. Finally, Elizabeth O’Keefe started with a sacred song, “Great is Thy Faithfulness”. She ended the recital with “Revive Us Again” by Husband. The recital might have been short, but the girls did marvelously.
The business meeting followed with eleven members present. The club adjourned to put together our scrapbook. The meeting closed with the singing of the NFMC Benediction “The Gift of Song” accompanied by Melissa Shipley.
Matinee Musical Club is a member of the Texas and National Federation of Music Clubs.
