POLICE REPORT

A traffic stop Sunday in Rockdale led to the arrest of a Tyler woman on drug possession charges.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich of the Rockdale Police Department said Ofc. Joah McCaleb made the stop then discovered a substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Darwyne McVey, 68, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (1 to 4 grams) and remains in custody in lieu of $10,000 bond.

ARREST—Police made one other felony arrest during the past week.

Casey David Hopson, 31, of Rockdale, was picked up on two outstanding motion to revoke probation warrants from Milam County, one each for burglary of a building and possession of a controlled substance.

He is being held without bond in the Milam County Jail.

WARRANTS—Police also served warrants for Falls County and the Cameron Police Department during the past week.

ACCIDENTS—Police were called to one traffic accident during the seven-day reporting period.

That occurred at 11:43 a.m. Sunday at the corner of West Cameron and Wilcox (US 79 and FM 487).

Police listed drivers as Mary Rivera and Eliza Vargas, both of Rockdale.

Damages were termed minor.

OFFENSES—Police investigated a child assault during the week. Goodrich said female victim sustained facial bruises.

There were several cases of criminal mischief reported including damage to a window and a vehicle.

Police continue to investigate a burglary of a residence in which a television was taken.

Other offense calls included theft and assault by contact.

CITATIONS—There were 50 citations issued during the week including 35 for speeding.

Goodrich said one citation was written for indecent exposure.

Two citations were issued for violation of Rockdale’s juvenile curfew.

SERVICE CALLS—Officers responded to 196 calls for service during the past week and there were 91 calls received through the 911 emergency system.
