Rockdale police charged a 31-year old local woman with two felonies last week after discovering methamphetamine stuffed into the back seat of a patrol car.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich said police obtained video evidence obtained as Veronica Luna-Velasques was being transported for booking on another charge and then filed charges of possession of tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair and possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram).

She was released after posting $21,000 bond.

ACCIDENTS—Police said a two-vehicle collision was reported at 5:40 p.m. Aug. 28 in front of Duchess Double Kwik West.

Drivers were listed as Susan Boyd and Justin High, both of Rockdale. Police said damages were major to the Boyd car and minor to the High SUV.

Damages were termed minor in a two-vehicle collision at 6:24 p.m. Friday in the 1000 block of East Cameron.

Drivers were listed as Marie Eckert of Athens and Billy Harris of Evansville, Indiana.

Minor damages were also listed in a two-vehicle collision at 10:51 a.m. Saturday at the Wilcox-Belton intersection.

Drivers were listed by police as Anna Nino of Cameron and Steven Spencer of Giddings.

SERVICE CALLS—Officers responded to 178 calls for service during the past week and there were 77 calls received through the 911 emergency assistance service at the Rockdale Police Station.

BURIED HISTORY—This brick manhole, perhaps as much as a century old was replaced in the alley behind the city library. In a separate project, the City of Rockdale, is replacing six manholes along US 79 in lieu of getting a state fine. See story, page 1A.
