During the month of May, we are highlighting our Milam County 4-H seniors graduating in 2020.

We are so proud of these youth as they have worked very hard, for most of them, over 10 years in 4-H.

They have competed in numerous competitions and have gained life skills they will use their entire lives.

This week we are spotlighting Garrett Bernstein and Preston Cade Gordan.

BERNSTEIN—Garrett Bernstein is a Thorndale 4-H Club member.

He has been in 4-H for over 10 years. His projects include beef (9 years), ag science (6 years), swine (6 years), and goat (2 years).

Garrett has been a 4-H council delegate and 4-H club vice president. He is also active in many other activities including FFA, football, basketball (defensive MVP), NHS (officer), UIL, tennis, cross country, and All District Academic.

Garrett is going to Texas Tech University and will be majoring in agribusiness.

His favorite 4-H Memory:

“I bought my steer online and worked really hard with him. We won first place at Houston and he meant a lot to me. People offered money for him early on but I said no and it was worth it!”

GORDON—Preston Cade Gordon is a member of the Rockdale 4-H Club.

He has been in the swine project for 10 years, ag mechanics 2 years and poultry for 2 years.

Preston is also very active as a Rockdale Fair Board Jr Member, football, basketball, golf, and baseball.

He will be going to TSTC and majoring in welding in the fall.

Preston’s favorite 4-H memory:

“It was having the older 4-H members help me when I first started out and then when I was one of the older ones I was able to pay it forward and help the younger ones out. I will miss showing and helping show the younger group what to do and what I have learned.”
