QUICK LOOK

With temperature reaching triple digits every afternoon, and this spring’s rains leaving abundant vegetation well into the summer, Milam County commissioners imposed an outdoor burning ban.

The ban, which will be enforced until further notice, covers unincorporated areas of the county.

All of Milam’s municipalities, including Rock-dale, have their own, permanent outdoor burning bans.

Commissioners imposed the burn ban during their regular monthly meeting at the request of Henry Horelica, Cameron Fire Chief.

Horelica is also president of the Milam County Fire Chiefs Association.

Later that same day, five Milam fire departments battled a series of grass fires off FM 908 near Apache Pass. See story, page 3A.
