The Milam County Junior Engineer Club will begin registration at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Milam County Railroad Museum, 110 W. First Street in Cameron. Junior engineers must bring a parent or guardian to register.

This is a model railroad club for kids 10-18 years of age. Membership is free and meetings will be held the fourth Saturday of every month. They will be an hour and a half long.

“Junior engineers will be instructed on how to run the trains on the Old Town Cameron layout. After the engineers complete a check down on engineering, they will receive their Junior Engineer Pin. Any time they come to the museum and are wearing their pin, they may take the throttle of a train on the layout,” said Jamie Larson, museum director.

In addition, club members will receive instruction on how to build their own train layout while they are getting “hands on” experience building their club’s train layout. Engineers will also get priority enrollment in our Junior Engineer Summer Camp in June. They must register in January or February and attend no less than three class meetings to get priority.

There will be lots of fun, activities and experiences. The club is open to boys and girls.
