On Dec. 8, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Milam County Deputy Keith Beasley attempted a routine traffic stop, south of Thorndale near Griffith Lane. Immediately, Deputy Beasley’s patrol vehicle was fired upon from inside the violator’s vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled, at which time Deputy Beasley began to pursue.
Assisted by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was stopped and arrested on CR 458, south of Thorndale. Deputy Beasley was not injured. Other assisting agencies were the Rockdale Police Department and Milam County Constable for Precinct 4. The investigation continues.
Arrested was Travis Wayne Turner of Thorndale for attempted capital murder, a first degree felony, evading in a motor vehicle, a state jail felony; and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.
