The whole country is going through a COVID nightmare with hospitalizations the highest ever and Milam County is no exception. This week the county surpassed its highest-ever totals on Monday but were below that by Wednesday with 94 patients discharged.
Our highest numbers ever were set in December of 2020 with 267 cases. On Monday were at 320 confirmed cases with a positivity rate of 61.3%, according to the Milam County Health Department.
RISD schools are also suffering with 70 active cases, according to the RISD COVID dashboard. These numbers reflect students, teachers and staff who are out with COVID. RES and RIS each have 13 out, has six, RIS has 10, RJH has 19 and RHS 25.
Rockdale City Hall has closed their lobby due to the high numbers and hopes to open again on Tuesday, Jan 18. Call 512- 446-2511 if you need an in-person appointment.
