If you’ve been considering making a donation to Milam Touch of Love (MTOL), now would be the time to do it. An anonymous donor asked the President of MTOL Jean Schara to pick a 30-day timeline for a matching donation of up to $5,000.
The timeline window is already underway. It started on Dec. 28 and runs to Jan. 27. Last year MTOL received a lot of donations in memory of Betty White on her birthday, Jan. 17, which falls right in line with the time window.
As of Sunday, the nonprofit organization is at $2,405 in donations, so reach deep into your pockets so they can hit the $5,000 matching mark.
Schara, pictured left, was the speaker at last Wednesday’s Rockdale Lion’s Club meeting at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department. MTOL does some amazing things for animals. They are a rescue organization, but that is not their main focus. They focus on three things to control the population of stray cats and dogs as well as family pets to make sure they are healthy.
They do this by holding a Wellness Day on the first Wednesday of each month. These are office type walkin services for pets.
Barn Cat day is on the second Wednesday of each month, which is $55 each for all of your porch, barn or feral cats. An ear tip is required by their sponsor so they can be easily identified as spayed or neutered.
Low Cost Spay and Neuter clinics are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month. They are $100 for all pets except male cats which are $55.
For people who need help paying for a spay or neuter, MTOL is in partnership with Central Texas Ruffugees (CTR) who provides a grant and offers $50 for dogs and female cats, and $30 for male cats and barn cats.
For a complete calendar of all these events please go to milamtouchoflove.org and don’t forget to hit the donate button.
If you prefer to mail your donation, make checks payable to Milam Touch of Love and send to Milam Touch of Love, PO Box 543, Cameron, TX 76520.
And since they are a 501c(3) non-profit, all donations are tax deductible.
