Milam County voters in both the Republican and Democratic Primaries didn’t agree with the statewide verdicts in a pair of runoff elections held Tuesday.

In the Democratic Primary, Milam voters endorsed Andrew White, son of former Texas Gov. Mark White by an 84-61 margin over former Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez.

That’s a 58-42 percent spread.

Valdez won statewide and will challenged GOP Gov. Greg Abbott in November.

In the Republican runoff, Milam voters endorsed Donna Davidson for Place 6 on the Third Court of Appeals.

Davidson polled 149 votes to 108 for Mike Toth. That was also a 58-to-42-percent margin.

Toth was the overall winner.

It was an extremely light turnout for the runoff elections in Milam with fewer than three percent casting ballots in both early voting and on election day Tuesday.
