The Milano Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary will hold their annual garage sale fundraiser Oct. 5-7 at the Milano Fire Station at 305 East Avenue C.
Hours of operation are Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Historical commission meets Oct. 2
Milam County Historical Commission will conduct its meeting at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at the historic San Gabriel Baptist Church, located at 263 CR 421, seven miles from Thorndale at the intersection of CR 421 and FM 486 and FM 3061.
The purpose of this commission is to preserve, protect and promote history within the county. The commission members are volunteers appointed by the County Commissioners Court. Meetings are open to the public.
Current members are from across the county including Gause, Milano, Rockdale, Cameron, Thorndale and San Gabriel. Holly Jentsch of Gause is the current chairman of the commission. Anyone interested in promoting and preserving Texas history, particularly involving Milam County, is invited to attend the Commission’s meetings.
Thorndale turkey dinner fundraiser
The Thorndale Ladies Firemen Auxiliary will be hosting a turkey and dressing fundraiser dinner on Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Thorndale Firemen’s Hall.
Serving will begin at 11 a.m. with drive through or dine in. Plates are $12 each.
No t icket s sold in advance. Desserts will be available for a free will offering.
