(A typographical error was made in the headline of last week’s Milano News, listing an incorrect date for the start of school. The date—Aug. 20—was correct in the story. The Reporter regrets the error and the confusion it caused.)

The school year will start for Milano ISD students on Thursday. The district is offering both in-person and online education options to its students due to recommendations associated with the current COVID-19 pandemic.

For more information, contact the campus offices for your students: Milano Elementary (512-455-2062), Milano Junior High (512-455-6701) or Milano High School (512-455-9333).

DONATIONS—The Melodie Hope Jones Memorial Scholarship fund is accepting online donations in lieu of its annual fundraiser.

The fund’s annual Sunflower Run has been canceled this year due to the coronavirus, but the group is still hoping to raise money for the scholarship.

Donations can be made online at https://melodiesmeow.com/donation.asp.

BURN BAN—A reminder, Milam County is still under a burn ban.

VACATION—Buck, the kids and I recently returned from a trip to the Port Aransas/Corpus Christi area. The coastal bend is my place to go and “recharge” and, of course, get sun burnt. The family time at the pool and the beach were much needed, and we were able to social distance the entire time.
